Thank you Anne-Marie for this wonderful Christmas card and Happy New Year to all our followers! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to the year ahead.
We’ve been blown away by the response to A Greyt Christmas Tail and have loved reading all the wonderful reviews you have sent us! Thank you so much, it really does mean a lot to hear how much you and your children have loved the book. If you have the time to leave a review on either our Facebook page or Amazon it is very much appreciated and helps other people to find us.
Thanks to your support, we were able to end the year on a greyt note as we made the first donations to Foal Farm Animal Rescue and Birmingham Greyhound Protection. Each charity received £650 in cash as well as a previous delivery of £300 worth of books to sell themselves, for a total of £950! I’m absolutely thrilled to have been able to do this and it will make such a difference to them.
It’s important to note that this amount is just from the sales through this website so far. It will be a rolling donation to provide ongoing support; as royalty cheques come in from sales through the book trade I will continue to today 1/3rd to Foal Farm and 1/3rd to BGP as well as from all future sales through my website.
We were able to stop into Foal Farm to deliver the cheque in person after we had dropped Dave’s Nan home after Christmas and it was wonderful to see Sarah and everyone there again. Five years ago today we made that same journey from Thamesmead to Foal Farm as we picked up Ramsey and brought him home so it was lovely to be able to give something back. They are currently fundraising to build a new kennel block and our donation will go towards that. We also got to see the Dog Isolation Unit (pictured above), which they’re hoping to replicate with their main kennel block when it is built, and got some love from the wonderful dogs who are there waiting for their forever homes. Do take a look at their website if you get a chance. You can read up on all the animals who are available for adoption as well as those who have more complex medical needs and are available for sponsorship. They live out their days at Foal Farm and your donations help them to provide the care and love that they need.
Today Birmingham Greyhound Protection is working with rescues around the country, including Foal Farm, to rescue 28 greyhounds from a horrible situation. They have rescued 841 dogs and rehomed 814 since 2012 – an amazing achievement! Again, all the dogs they currently have available for adoption are listed on their website where you can read all about them.
